Frequently Asked

Questions

What is digital marketing strategy?

Think of it like a party invitation: you need to let people know something is happening at your house if you want them to come.

Concretely, it’s an umbrella term for tactics designed to make you (more) visible online. It helps people know about your website and your products or services.

How does it work?

A strategy is typically segmented in channels, which describe how visitors arrive at your website.

Below are some examples of tactics that can make up a strategy:

  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

  • Paid advertising

  • Link building

  • Blogging

  • Social media marketing

  • Email marketing

  • Website optimisation

Do I need a marketing strategy to succeed online?

Yes, I think so. It doesn't mean you need to work with me to create it, although I'd love it if you did!

Having a strategy will keep you focused on where you want to be, and how to get there. Trying to grow your online presence without a strategy is like going on a road trip without a map, snacks, or music - I wouldn’t go on that kind of trip!

Let’s work together! What’s next?

First, fill out the form on my Contact page.

I’ll start by getting to know you, not by choosing tactics. We all have unique goals and personalities, and these will impact what strategy works best for you.

Once I know more about you, I’ll create a strategy you will be able to sustain. Persistence is key to online success.

Do I need to have a strategy before designing my website?

Ideally yes, because it’ll inform your website’s architecture (number of pages, features, content, keywords to use, calls to action, ... ).

In real life things are rarely done ideally. Don't let the fact you’ve got a website stop you from taking stock of where you are, and how to improve. My Website Audit service would be perfect for you!

Do you offer SEO services?

I think of SEO as part of the picture, but not the whole picture. When you purchase my services, they’ll include SEO alongside other tactics.

I have a small business, should I approach marketing differently?

It depends what you mean by differently. The same best practices apply, but because your business is probably shorter on resources, you need to be more selective. Doing less, but really well, is better than being on all the social channels and posting the same content everywhere.

I want to grow my online presence really fast, can you do this?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who promises they can. It takes time and steady work to build a presence and reputation online. You could get lucky (it happens!), but you shouldn't count on it, or expect overnight results.

How do I succeed online (please keep your answer short)?

Here’s my version of a TL,DR; for you:

Start by defining:

  •     your goals

  •     your objectives to reach them

Know these inside out:

  •     the value proposition of your product / service

  •     your ideal customer profile

  •     how the two can meet

Have these in place:

  •     website analytics

  •     content calendar

Do this often:

  •     write content helpful to your ideal customer

  •     measure, experiment, analyse, repeat

Be consistent and stay optimistic :)
